No Birds of a Feather
The Ministry of Environment and National Beautification, Green and Blue Economy is again delighted to be working with artists in Barbados to highlight biodiversity and the environment. Internationally, International Day for Biological Diversity (IDB) is celebrated on May 22nd, and this year’s theme is Building a Shared Future for All Life.
To mark this day, the Ministry will again host its Virtual Art Exhibition. The Exhibition was initiated in 2021 as a response to the Covid-19 pandemic as a way to deliver the message of biodiversity conservation and to partner with and support local artists.

MENB Barbados
In 2022, the theme of ‘Building a Shared Future for All Life‘ has once more brought the focus to a wider cross-section of artists, whose work reflects an appreciation for Barbados, our environment, our biodiversity, our people and their interactions. As with natural ecosystems, the importance of relationships from, the basis of our sustainable development, our shared future.
When the call for art pieces was made, the response from the artists was overwhelming. It is important to explore and embrace new ways of delivering our message about the significance of biodiversity and the environment, such as through the lens of artists, as we continue our work within a global pandemic.
The virtual art exhibition explores themes of biodiversity, local flora and fauna, nature and ecosystem restoration, Barbadian people and their interactions through various media. It will be hosted on the Biodiversity Barbados from Sunday 22 May.
